London Attractions : London Sightseeing
The museum is the house of the 19th century architect, Sir John Soanes who was responsible for the design of the building.
Soane negotiated an act of parliament that said that on his death his home and contents would become a museum. The architecture and collection of paintings and sculptures is kept as it was on his death in 1837.
